ON FRIDAY, January 15, guitar and vocal duo Nick Treharne and Geraint Williams will be bringing back live music to The Pilot, Penarth.

Well known on the music scene in Penarth, Nick Treharne first began playing at the Sunday night jam session at The Pilot before it was renovated and taken over by Knife & Fork Food Ltd. Since then he has helped form the Penarth Songwriters’ Circle and is a co-founder of the Penarth Acoustic Club.

Since moving to Penarth in 2003, he has built up a steady following of supporters, having established himself as one of the best acoustic performers around.

Cowbridge based Geraint Williams has his background in Country/Blues music and draws his influence from performers such as Jackson Brown and James Taylor. A popular contributor to acoustic evenings in Wales and the south east of England, his relaxed finger picking style and mellow vocals have been pleasing crowds throughout his career.

Individually accomplished as solo performers, both musicians played together for the first time last year, blending their acoustic guitar skills and rich voices in perfect harmony. Choosing songs that will be familiar to most, but which are often overlooked by other performers, the duo have created a varied repertoire which is rhythmic, melodic and exhilarating.

From Stevie Wonder to Prefab Sprout and Mark Knopfler to Soft Cell, each song is crafted and delivered with energy, precision and passion.

General manager of The Pilot, Francois Commeureuc, said “We are delighted to offer music once more on a Friday evening. Previous music nights have been very popular and I believe that this is just what are customers are looking for at the start of the new year”.

Entry to The Pilot on Queens Road, which is noted in the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide 2016, is free, with the music commencing at 9pm.
