PENARTH Music Co-op is holding a fundraiser on Saturday, January 30, to help develop music acts in Penarth.

Money raised will pay for equipment that young musicians and bands can use for a fraction of the price they would pay elsewhere.

The Co-op have already brought some famous old names to Penarth and brought in local acts to support them. Ed Tudor Pole from 80s new wavers Tenpole Tudor played The Windsor Arms, TV Smith from 70s Punks The Adverts with ranting poet Attila The Stockbroker following soon after – all backed up by local bands, raising their profile and giving them opportunities they otherwise may not have had.

On Saturday local boys the Devo-like Tall Men will be on stage at 8pm, then acoustic riot girl Efa Supertramp will perform at 8.45pm, followed by the co-op’s own Wide Open Spaces at 9.30pm.

The evening takes place Penarth Ex-Servicemen’s Club with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Admission is £3 and there will also be some classic tunes in between by DJ Karl Eldridge.

Penarth Music Co-op will also be holding an open mic night at the Penarth Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Monday, which has been very successful and is open to anyone.

A music quiz is also being planned along with a Cult Classic 1960s records night. Check out the Penarth Music Co-op’s Facebook page to keep up-to-date with all their news.
