BOUNDARY Art, Cardiff, welcomes Stella Lyons for her first art lecture of Wednesday, February 3.

She will run these lectures every Wednesday and they are a great opportunity to meet people who are interested and passionate about art.

The event will be held in the galleries teahouse in a casual and relaxed setting, which often encourage lively discussions.

Her first lecture will be called How to look at paintings: Narrative Paintings.

A recent survey, found that an average viewer looks at a painting in a museum for two seconds. Why are gallery goers spending so little time interacting with art?

Paintings are often designed to be read, they contain hidden messages and symbols. These aren't always obvious upon first glance.

This course will help to arm viewers with the necessary skills to approach a painting in a gallery or museum, and examine it in detail, delving beneath the surface of the work.

The course will draw upon a variety of artistic periods and movements; Medieval, Italian Renaissance, British 18th Century, French 19th Century, the Pre-raphaelites and American 20th Century.

Tickets to the lecture cost £8 per person and includes a selection of Chinese teas.

Bookings can be made in the gallery or via email. Please call 02920 489869 or email info@boundaryart.com
