ST DAVID’S Hall will present another fantastic afternoon of music, when world renowned conductor John Wilson joins the Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday, February 7.

John always brings freshness to everything he conducts, and this captivating concert will prove no different. From his reconstructions of the great shows of the past through to the English music of which he is increasingly emerging as one of today’s leading interpreters.

Here, he conducts two classics by the young Vaughan Williams: the noble warmth and vivid splash of A Sea Symphony and the vibrant overture to The Wasps. Sandwiched in between is Finzi’s dramatic, nostalgic and uplifting Clarinet Concerto.

Sharing the stage with John is soprano Sally Williams, baritone Roderick Williams and Mark van de Wiel on clarinet, plus 150 members of the Bristol and Gloucester Choral Societies.
