A PENARTH writer and actor is heading to Chapter Arts Centre in April to perform in his hilarious one man show.

Dick Johns will read six of his own short stories in Dick Johns – What Midlife Crisis?

Dick Johns has aged, like fine wine but without being stored on his side in a dusty cellar. Bald at 25, convinced that his lifestyle might kill him off by the age of 40, what is he to do now? There is pressure everywhere. Kids, mortgage, having to think twice before using the stairs. He will read you some stories. He might sing a song. There is a quiz. Everything about this screams midlife crisis. Come witness the humiliation.

The incredibly successful Dick Johns has also performed in The Office, My Hero and High Hopes as Dick Bradnum, as well as performing in theatres throughout the UK, and has appeared in countless radio plays for Radio 3 and 4 and BBC Radio Wales.

He is a regular Dame in South Wales Pantomimes, for the Owen Money Company and at Porthcawl Pavilion. His short story Joy won the Writers and Artists Prize 2015. He has a photographic recollection of the lyrics of many 1980s pop music hits. He is 49.

Educated at Cardiff High School, the University of Birmingham, Welsh College of Music and Drama and University College, London, Dick is now living in Penarth where he is settled with his three children and wife, theatre director Yvonne Murphy.

His hilarious show comes to Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff from April 13-16, and will examine the midlife experience.
