THREE star performers return to the Penarth Acoustic Club on Friday, June 10, at the Conservative Club, Penarth, after highly successful first appearances last year.

David Roberts, a singer/songwriter and accomplished fingerstyle guitar instrumentalist is embarking on a UK tour to promote his recently released EP Sending out Fires. Having already played in Nottingham, Sheffield, London and his home town, Hereford, David will perform at the How The Light Gets In festival at Hay on Wye before taking to the stage at the club in Penarth.

Roberts’ live solo performances are a chance to experience the unique voice and intricate guitar style that are at the centre of his music. Influenced by John Martyn, Nick Drake and Bert Jansch, David is quickly earning a reputation as a breathtakingly individual performer, and this has led him to open shows for such stars as Zervas and Pepper.

Maxwell James is a singer, actor, songwriter and musician from Cardiff, having trained in the performing arts at the Mountview Academy, London. He has been writing and performing his own music for 12 years and his smooth, velvety vocals, catchy melodies and inspiring lyrics have led him to perform in prestigious venues across the UK including Colston Hall, Bristol, The Dublin Castle, Camden as well as taking to the stage on cruise liners and in venues across the world.

He is also a regular guest on BBC Radio Wales. Having released two EPs and one album with his previous band, Cheviot Hill, his debut solo EP entitled It Flies will be available on iTunes from June 20.

When not performing solo, Max performs with two highly regarded but very different bands, the FlyBoys, a four part vocal harmony group and Indienational, an international party/function band.

Mike Greenhough is a thoughtful and witty poet. A former lecturer at Cardiff University, he is inspired by his background in both the arts and science. His comic short stories and poems have been published in anthologies and he has completed a comic novel with help from Literature Wales.

Mixing the very best live acoustic music and poetry, the Penarth Acoustic Club has established an excellent reputation with both musicians and poets and provides an excellent atmosphere for both the audience and performers alike.

Doors will open at 7.30pm for performances to begin at 8.15pm. Tickets cost £5 and it is advised to get your tickets in advance.
