A WEALTH of Welsh and English talent is set to appear at the Penarth Acoustic Club on Friday, July 15, at the Conservative Club, Penarth.

Fly Yeti Fly are Lorna Somerville and Darren Fisher, a progressive and sometimes psychedelic acoustic duo from the south west of England.

Blending vocal harmonies with intricate guitar, mandolin and harmonica arrangements, they have a natural and free spirited sound and a warm engaging personality to their music. Influenced by great 1960s musicians such as Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel and Nick Drake and contemporary songwriters such as Tom McRae and Ben Howard, their songs tell tales of love, loss and of living off the land.

Having toured Germany, France and The Netherlands last year, they are currently performing at an array of festivals around the UK, and are in the process of recording their debut album Shine a Light in the Dark which is due for release in August.

Taking a leap of faith just a few years ago, Aberdare born John Adams resigned as a mathematics teacher and bought a busking “amp” the same day to pursue his love of music. His performances on the street, and his amazing journey on the X-Factor in 2011, soon won him many fans and as his confidence grew, he remembers it putting “a spring in my step that money couldn’t buy”.

His breathtakingly pure vocals and easy stage presence have seen him perform before such household names as Take That, Olly Murs and Katherine Jenkins. He is currently working on his second album whilst his debut album, The Pavement is my Stage, reached number seven in the iTunes singer/songwriter charts, receiving a five star rating.

He will be joined on stage by pianist and percussionist Andy Morgan.

Rebecca Parfitt returns to the club to read more of her excellent poetry. As an editor who is already widely published in anthologies and magazines, her poetry has been described as 'shimmering with clarity, making the everyday world of relationships brim with unsettling surprise'.

Mixing the very best live acoustic music and poetry, the Penarth Acoustic Club has established an excellent reputation with both musicians and poets and provides an excellent atmosphere for both the audience and performers alike.

Doors will open at 7.30pm for performances to begin at 8.15pm. Tickets cost £5 and it is strongly advised to get your tickets in advance.
