THE Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl, an interactive experience inspired by his life and works, opens at Wales Millennium Centre on August 12.

Running for 22 weeks until January 14, 2017, this will be the only opportunity to visit the experience outside of London this year.

Featuring artefacts from the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, original manuscripts and handwritten letters, The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl adventures through the secrets of Dahl’s life - from Llandaff school-boy to fighter pilot, inventor to historian of chocolate – and dives deep into the realms of this storyteller’s imagination.

Wales Millennium Centre is the only venue this experience will transfer to this year.

Graeme Farrow, artistic director at Wales Millennium Centre, commented: “It’s fantastic to be able to celebrate the world’s greatest storyteller with The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl in Cardiff, the city of his birth. This magical exhibition allows you to explore Dahl’s pure imagination and I have no doubt that Wondercump will inspire hundreds of young minds to go on to create wonderfully imaginative worlds of their own.”

Steve Gardam, director at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre said: “We welcome thousands of people every year to our wonderful little museum in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, where Roald Dahl lived and worked for over 35 years. But Roald Dahl 100 is too big a celebration for just one small village, so we are thrilled to share highlights from our extra-special collection with visitors to the Wondercrump experience in Cardiff, all this summer and through to Christmas. The Roald Dahl archive reveals the writer’s craft behind the magic.”

The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl forms part of Roald Dahl 100, a year of celebration throughout 2016 marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl.

Coinciding with the experience is Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales’ City of the Unexpected, from September 17-18 - also part of Roald Dahl 100 - a weekend-long event which will see Cardiff transformed into a city inspired by Dahl’s stories, his imagination and his fondness for all things magical.

Tickets to The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl, created by Southbank Centre in association with Wales Millennium Centre, cost £8 in advance and £11 on the day. This is a guided, group experience and there must be a minimum of one adult for every three children.
