THE National Youth Orchestra of Wales will celebrate its 70th birthday with its final concert of their 2016 tour at St David’s Hall on Friday, August 5.

Plus, the world’s oldest national youth orchestra will be joined by conductor Carlo Rizzi, and there will be a specially written piece entitled A Fanfare of Our Youth by NYOW alumnus Gareth Wood to mark the milestone anniversary.

Also on the repertoire is Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra and Richard Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben.

Earlier in the day at 1pm in the L3 Lounge, the National Youth of Wales Young Composers will perform a concert showcasing new music written by some of Wales’ emerging talent.

Tickets to see the NYOW at 7.30pm cost £15.
