THE autumn season of popular lunchtime recitals held at All Saints Church in Victoria Square, Penarth continues on Monday, October 3.

On Monday Jana Holesworth, a soprano will be accompanied by Ben Pinnow. Both expressed a desire to return to All Saints after performing in Opera in Situ’s Street Scenes concert earlier this month.

A native of Nova Scotia, Jana attended university in Lethbridge, Alberta and, having attained degrees in English, French and Music made the move to Wales to attend The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she recently completed her Masters of Music under the tutelage of Gail Pearson. Jana’s list of singing roles is already a healthy one and she now also works as a producer and director working with companies such as Opera’r Ddraig, Opera in Situ and WYPA.

Ben Pinnow is a South Wales based choral conductor, accompanist and musical educator who graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2013 with a Masters in Choral Conducting where he received the Busenhart-Morgan-Evans Choral Conducting Bursary – awarded by the Worshipful Company of Singers.

Ben is currently the musical director for City Voices Bristol, Roath Community Chorus and newly created Opera in Situ. As well as this, Ben is assistant musical director for Cwmbach Male Choir and Canton Chorus.

Ben first studied piano at Cardiff University with renowned pianist Richard Ormrod. He holds the ABRSM Diploma in piano performance which he passed with Distinction. Engagements as repetiteur include Hansel and Gretel and Beggar's Opera with Opera'r Ddraig, plus extensive work on various projects with Welsh National Opera’s education and outreach department.

He currently works alongside mezzo-soprano Olivia Gomez on the Live Music Now scheme, a charity set up by Yehudi Menuhin to provide live music experiences for those with limited access including people living with dementia and children with special educational needs.
