Personal Overview - Held this seat following the decision of Lorraine Barrett to stand down at the 2011 elections and is the Welsh Assembly's first black politician. He comes from a legal career background and in common with fellow Assembly member Mick Antoniw (who was also one of the 2011 parliamentary intake) has been a partner with Thompsons Solicitors specialising in Employment Law. The practice specialises in personal injury issues and has handled a large amount of trade union related work. He also has direct Trade Union experience having been a former Wales TUC President (2007-08). He is likely to be a good media performer having previous experience of appearing on radio and television and has extensive public speaking and conference experience.

Mr John Bufton MEP (UK Independence)

MEP Since - 2009 Born - 31/08/1962 (Llanidloes, Mid Wales). Divorced.
Education - Elan Village Primary School and Llandrindod Wells High School.
Previous Occupation - Administrator and Transport Manager for his Family Haulage Business. Has also worked as a Sales Executive,
Residential Care Home Manager (Local Authority) and Proprietor of a Retail Business. Press Officer and Public Relations Manager to Roger Knapman (former UKIP Leader and MEP).

Personal Overview - Elected at the 2009 elections from 1st place on the party's list in Wales. Has political experience at Local Government level and Prior to joining UKIP was an ex Labour Party member, served as an Independent Councillor and later as a member of the Referendum Party. Has subsequently stood for the party at both Welsh Assembly and Westminster elections. Was active during the 2004-09 European Parliamentary term as an advisor for one time party Leader Roger Knapman who was an MEP in the South West Region. Has advised the UKIP Wales Committee, advancing to become Vice Chairman of UKIP in Wales. During his election campaign he also attempted to target some of the traditional Labour anti European vote as well as support from Trade Union members.

AM Since - 2003 Majority - (Regional Constituency) Born - 1975. Married, 2 children.
Education - Cardiff University (Music). Post-graduate diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Previous Occupation - Community Engagement Manager for Cardiff University.

Personal Overview - Joined the Assembly in July 2011 following the decision to disqualify John Dixon who had been elected at the May elections. He did not return to the Assembly despite the fact that his colleague Aled Roberts (who was also disqualified) was reinstated when it emerged that he had been misled by out of date guidelines for election candidates. She is from a public sector background, prior to her election she had led a team which organises educational outreach and community events for the public. She has an interest in educational issues where she has shown concern at the level of school funding in Wales compared to that of England.
