Activities galore during adult learners' week
MAY 17-23, is Adult Learners' Week throughout Wales and there are plenty of free activities going on in the Penarth area to which people can come along.
Dinas Powys Library hosts a free craft session on Monday, May 19, from 12.45-2.45pm. Tutor Lesley Goode will help you to produce some beautiful modern decoupage designs for you to take home.
On Wednesday, May 21, there is an Arts and Crafts fair taking place at Albert Road Church and Community Centre from 10am-3pm.
There are a number of workshops and taster sessions running both during the morning and in the afternoon for you to visit these include, jewellery making, rag rugs, encaustic art, relaxation and self massage, card making, Modern Decoupage and Welsh.
The Community Enterprise Service is holding a Getting to Know you' event from 10.30am-12.30am which is free to members of Community groups and you are welcome to join in any free taster sessions too.
Education and training information will be available free of charge and there will be displays and special events such as a cook book Recipes from around the World' produced by students from overseas. A prize draw and free tea and coffee are available on the day.
Penarth Library is to host a free IT session to introduce members of the public, students, and tutors to the wide range of software that is available, mostly free of charge and sometimes available from your home computer too. This taster session will be held from 10am-11am at Penarth Library.
Also on Wednesday, May 21, the Washington Gallery is playing host to a Secret of Drawing workshop with tutor Philip Watkins. Free coffee and cakes at the Washington Gallery are an added bonus to this workshop!
St Cyres School will be the venue for an IT taster sessions on Thursday, May 22, so if you have never had a go on a computer or are a little hesitant now is your chance to come and try a Computers for Fun workshop' This free taster will take place from 7pm-9pm.

I hope you'll allow me to add that the Esperanto Association of Britain offers a free [bold]Esperanto[/bold] postal course. Suitable for those who would like a quick taster, this course gives an overview of the language in twelve bite-sized portions. Once you have received the first lesson, simply return your answers with an SAE. Your volunteer tutor will reply with guidance and the next lesson. All you pay is postage!
