THE Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth has received a generous donation from the Ken Picton Salon in Cardiff Bay.

Owner Ken, who lives in Penarth, held a Blooming Great Tea Party at the salon over two days in July and raised £1000 - all of which will go to the Bridgeman Road hospice, which is set to be re-opened following an extensive renovation.
Ken said he couldnÕt thank his clients enough for supporting the cause.
"The amount of money raised over two days is amazing!" he said.
"The mother of one of my team members came up with the idea. We serve complimentary refreshments in china cups with fabric napkins, so she thought it would be great to do a cupcake event, and she is renowned for making the most amazing cakes.
"We served a wide range of cakes and clients made a donation to enjoy them during their service, alongside their complimentary teas and lattes.
"Some of the clients also contributed some baked offerings, making it quite a spread!"
"We're very grateful to everyone at Ken Picton and for all the people who worked so hard - staff and clients - to make it such a success.
"The money will be put to good use providing nursing care for patients with terminal illness."
* The Ken Picton Salon was recently announced as the winner of the 2012 Your Hair Image of the Year competition. It is also holds numerous other accolades including Salon of the Year. For more information visit www.kenpicton.com
