THERE was standing room only at St Peter's Church, Dinas Powys, for the Remembrance Day service on Sunday (November 11).

The Legion members, supported by Dinas Powys Community Council, Michaelston Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council and a capacity congregation at the service, heard the names of the significant number of local men killed in action in both world wars.

Earlier wreaths had been laid at the Memorial in the centre of the community by a huge range of organisations led by the Legion.

Cllr Val Hartrey represented Dinas Powys and Cllr Mike Pritchard represented Michaelston. The Vale Council wreath was laid by Cllr Chris Franks.

The local churches and chapels, St Cyres School, voluntary groups, Scouts, Guides, Brownies, sports clubs and political parties were all present.

The march from the Memorial to St Peter's was led by the Scouts band, much to the delight of the public.
