Vale residents can have say on 20mph zones in Penarth and Llandough
RESIDENTS in the Vale of Glamorgan are to be asked what they think about the idea of 20mph zones in Penarth and Llandough in a six-week-long online consultation.
The consultation opens on March 18 and follows a report presented at a Vale of Glamorgan council cabinet meeting in Penarth in January.
Cabinet member for regeneration, innovation, planning and transportation Cllr Lis Burnett said: “The idea was initially raised by residents in both Penarth and Llandough and so we want to understand local people’s thoughts about possible 20mph zones in Penarth and Llandough.
“The consultation will be open to all residents and will feel more like a conversation in which we will only seek to find out if residents generally welcome the idea and whether there is support for an in-depth investigation into the viability of a 20mph zone or zones.
Detail such as where any zones might begin and end, how they would be implemented and so forth, would only be looked at if residents tell us that’s what they want.”
Campaigns backing the idea have already been launched in Llandough and Penarth. The consultation will run March 18-April 26, 2013. It will be available at www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or by calling C1V, the council’s contact centre, on 01446 700111.
