A SONGWRITER from Penarth has made it to the live regional finals of a national competition searching for the country’s best singers and vocalists.

Hana Evans, 12, was given a big thumbs up by judges at the TeenStar auditions and is now vying for a place in the national final to be held at the 02 venue in London.

Thousands of contestants entered nationwide and hundreds of people queued patiently on the day for their turn to impress the judges.

But Hana was among the few chosen and she will now perform in front of hundreds of audience members and a professional judging panel to win a place at the grand final.

Chris Grayston, events coordinator for TeenStar said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, former winners Birdy or Hatty Keanw who has signed for BMG, that can go all the way, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist.

“There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star again.”
