DINAS Powys FC entertained Ely Rangers FC their local rivals in the return fixture of last week's opening game.

Dinas came out of the blocks fast playing some attractive football from the back. Dimitri Fallas and Joe Briscombe were causing allsorts of problems with quality ball supplied to them. Late on in the half the home side thought they had taken the lead but Chris Bramhill's header was adjudged not to have crossed the line.

Going in at the break disappointed not to have taken the lead the home side knew Ely would look to come out strong. This they did and pinned the home side back. Losing a few players through injury disrupted Dinas slightly but they carried on trying to work the ball from defence.

Mid way through the 2nd half Joe briscombe showed pace and strength as he latched onto a clearance from David Penikett to coolly loop the ball over the on coming Ian Davies. The young Dinas side then got caught with a sucker punch as the Ely striker was brought down for a penalty minutes later. The visiting number 10 calmly stroked it home.

The game started to open up with both teams pressing for a winner late on, final score 1-1.

It's a positive start to the season from a young entertaining Dinas Powys FC who have showed character beyond their years.
