The coastal pathway linking Penarth Marina and Penarth Head is closed until November due to safety fears.
The closure took effect on Monday (September 23) as Tweeted by Penarth Coastguard.
During this time remedial works will be carried out by the responsible authority, Cardiff Council.
The works will consist of an embankment and fencing, to help prevent future landslips.
There will be a repair of the access path to the southern breakwater in the outer harbour.
There will be no access between the beach area and the barrage during the six week period.
Cabinet member for sport, leisure and culture at Cardiff Council, Cllr Ramesh Patel, said: “Whilst the works take place there will not be any access from Penarth to the Barrage via the beach. This is for everyone’s safety. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation."
