EIGHT community groups from Vale of Glamorgan have been shortlisted for the 2013 Lloyds Bank Community Fund with voting now open to the public to decide how the awards will be allocated.
The Lloyds Bank Community Fund is helping local people to have a positive impact at the heart of their communities by giving grants to four good causes in each community.
Voting is now open to the public online, by SMS text message and by visiting a local Lloyds Bank branch. The number of votes cast in each community will decide how the Community Fund awards will be allocated. In each community, the two good causes with the most votes will each receive £3,000, with the other two receiving awards of £300 each.
The eight community groups shortlisted from Vale of Glamorgan are:
Vale of Glamorgan East
• Penarth & District Live at Home Scheme
• Ty Hafan - The Family Hospice for Young Lives
• Ashgrove School
• Atal Y Fro
Vale of Glamorgan West
• Dinas Wolves Football Club
• Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club
• Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School
• Cowbridge 1st Responders
Earlier this year, Lloyds Bank colleagues nominated over 4,500 community groups and worked together to shortlist the final 1,300 local good causes in over 300 communities across England and Wales.
Graham Lindsay, Group Director, Responsible Business, Lloyds Banking Group said: "As the Lloyds Bank Community Fund public vote opens for a second year, we are looking forward to showcasing the fantastic work being delivered by an enormous range of community groups in communities across the country and to encouraging everyone to get behind their local good causes by casting their vote.
"Congratulations to every community group on the shortlist and good luck."
