SPEAKING at the launch of Cyd Cymru today in Cardiff, local Labour MP Stephen Doughty praised the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff Councils for working with the Energy Savings Trust and Welsh Government to help fight for lower energy bills for local people.
Commenting at the launch, Stephen said: "At a time when hard working people across Cardiff and the Vale are struggling with a cost of living crisis, and to cope with energy price rises of nearly 10 per cent, I am hugely proud of the Vale and Cardiff Councils for doing their best to support local people through this collective switching scheme.
"Ed Miliband and Labour have pledged to freeze energy bills if we are elected in 2015, but in the meantime we need to do all we can to help people cope.
"This scheme could make a real difference and I would strongly encourage local people to sign up at www.cydcymru-energy.com or by calling 0800 093 5902.
"By working together and taking on the big energy bosses we can help lower people's bills as winter approaches."
