Fundraising ball for Teenage Cancer Trust
3:01pm Tuesday 29th October 2013 in News
TOGETHER, Lara Cowpe and Anne Huxtable have organised their third successful October ball.
They are members of a voluntary fundraising committee called Teen Spirit in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, which raises money and awareness of Teenage Cancer Trust's work in the South Wales area.
Teenage Cancer Trust is a UK-based charity which helps young people aged 13-24 fight cancer. Six teenagers are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and cancer is the most common cause of non-accidental death in this age group.
Cardiff hosts the only Teenage Cancer Trust unit in Wales and it costs £240,000 to run, this highlights the importance of volunteers such as Anne, Lara and the Teen Spirit in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust committee.
The ball was held on Saturday, October 19, at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Cardiff. A total of 294 guests dined and danced the night away. Entertainment was provided by caricaturist Picasso Griffiths (kindly sponsored by Legal and General) and The Big What! dance band. A number of people including businesses and event guests donated raffle and auction items.
The evening was a great success and raised an amazing £11,100.
Lara and Anne would like to thank everyone who joined them on the evening, people who generously donated items and their fellow Teen Spirit in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust members for their support.
