THE weather was kind for the Dickensian night in Dinas Powys and the crowds were rewarded with a first class night out.
There was a wide range of entertainment, games and stalls on offer for young and old. Organised by the Dinas Powys Rotary Club and supported by many local organisations there was fun for all. The Dinas Powys Community Council’s magnificent Christmas tree was a beautiful centre piece to the night.
The guides were making a special effort to support sending a young leader, Carys Edwards who helps at 6th Dinas Powys Brownies, chosen through Girlguidings International Selection Programme to go to Zambia and work on the book bus. This involves introducing and reading books to young children in villages. She will be there for 2 weeks and has to raise all travel costs herself.
There was a mini helicopter, bash the rat, Owls4U, lamb burgers and naturally long queues for Santa Claus.
A stall to encourage people to object to the Local Development Plan, a brass band, a stall for cat and dog charities and fundraising for the Guides were other attractions.
This was another event in Dinas Powys where the whole community could come together.
