SULLY’S Ty Hafan children’s hospice has welcomed a “phenomenal” donation of more than £100,000.
In a relentless two-year fundraising mission, Cardiff-based care development and construction partner, Castleoak, has raised £100,582.54 for the Hayes Road children’s hospice.
The charity is using the donation to improve the facilities at the hospice in Sully.
Alison Stallard, business and community fundraiser at T? Hafan, said: “When we first heard of Castleoak’s pledge to raise £100,000 we were blown away.
“With the economy as it is, it is absolutely phenomenal – and unheard of – for a company with around 160 employees to not only set a goal like this, but to have the determination and commitment to achieve it.”
Castleoak’s head of HR, Andrew Duggan, said: “Colleagues wanted the company to support the local and wider community more by raising funds for one main charity.
“At our Annual Conference in 2011 we therefore launched the two-year target for T? Hafan.”
He added that staff had overwhelmingly backed the fundraising.
“Colleague engagement has been strong. It’s been great to see so many get involved. As a company we offer all staff time for charitable and community work. Colleagues have used this, plus their own time, to organise and take part in fundraising activities. There’s been a wide range of sporting events, an ambitious publishing project – the My Favourite Things cookbook – and everything in between.”
Cath Smith, research analyst at Castleoak, played a key role in the development of the My Favourite Things cookbook. She said: “It’s incredibly rewarding when you can say you've done it! The cookbook has raised more than £10,000 to date. We’re all very proud of what we’ve achieved.”
