MORE than £1,000 has been raised by the Penarth and District Lesotho Trust following a successful creative crafts fayre.
The schoolroom of Stanwell Road Baptist Church and the lawns outside were busy all morning selling superb Christmas gifts which had been produced by a team of craftsmen and women and also their families and supporters of the charity trust. The creative group included Suki Flynn, Mary Anne Marsden, Lesley Cox and Jeremy and Rosemary Dix whose hard work for many weeks resulted in a beautiful display in the delightfully decorated hall. Most important of all, the people of Penarth showed their support for Lesotho by buying so many of the excellent presents offered for sale and thereby making it all worthwhile.
A week later in the local Christmas Tree Festival, the PADLT tree won a bronze award. The decoration of the tree was largely comprised of replicas of the typical indigenous dwellings of the Lesothan people.
A spokesperson for the PADLT said: “Our thanks to the generous people of Penarth. The funds raised will once more be directed to the TY Junior Academy and its recently completed library, with books for use in the new building given a high priority."
