USE your SiP card, enjoy the discounts and support local businesses. This is the message from Gwyrddio Penarth Greening (GPG) which runs the Shop in Penarth project.

Tricia Griffiths, SiP organiser said: "We have taken on many new businesses recently and there are good offers to be had across town – from wine and mince pies to handbags and jewellery – just look for the round SiP sign in the shop window, present your card and ask about the SiP offer."

GPG is a strong supporter of local independent shops, seeing them as the life blood of any town. “We are very lucky in Penarth to have such a wide range of shops and services and if we don’t use them we will surely lose them,” said Tricia.

GPG is encouraging people to explore the whole of Penarth when shopping, from Upper Glebe Street with its unique organic food shop, through the centre of town and down through Stanwell Road with its fashion shops and newsagent (now offering films for hire) to Station Approach which boasts a Deli, a Wine Store and a specialist shoe shop, and Cornerswell Road at the other end of town which has the only remaining independent baker in Penarth and a brand new café – and everything in between!

Quite apart from the shops across town, wherever you are in Penarth you will only be a minute away from a restaurant or café.

Apart from the SiP offers, there are currently five £10 vouchers to be won in SiP shops – just present your card to any SiP business and ask if you are a winner. SiP cards can be bought for £1 at any SiP business and they last for 12 months.
