STUDENTS at Westbourne School proved top of the class as they achieved one silver and three bronze awards in this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge.

More than 74,000 pupils from across the UK returned scripts for the Senior Maths Challenge with the top 10 percent receiving a gold certificate, the next 20 percent silver and the next 30 percent bronze.

Elliot Ismail earned a silver as well as top in his year and best in the school.

Huong Vu earned a certificate for best in the year, while Wansiri Roeksanan, Joshua McKenna and Natalie Laske earned bronze certificates.

The Senior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and aimed at those in Years 13 and below and is sat in schools.

All five students are in the Sixth Form at Westbourne School and are studying Maths as part of the IB Diploma.

Westbourne is holding an International Baccalaureate (IB) and University information evening on Thursday, January 30, at 7pm.

The event will bring together experts from universities including King’s College, London and the IB Organisation to provide Year 10, 11 and 12 students with advice on Sixth Form choices, the IB qualification and university admission.
