THE Wales Audit Office has found the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s finances to be well managed, and was satisfied that the council has appropriate arrangements in place to secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the latest annual review by the Auditor General.

The audit found no major issues with the council’s financial procedures or its accounts. The accounts were audited on September 26, and were found to be a true and fair view of the council’s financial position and transactions.

Cllr Neil Moore, Leader of the council, was very satisfied with the report: “It is good to have an outside body confirm that our financial procedures are working well and in particular to find that the Auditor General considers that we have arrangements in place to secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

“Like all Welsh local authorities we are facing tough financial times, with more belt tightening to come, but we will ensure that we will continue to manage our finances competently and prudently to ensure the best services possible for local people.”

The letter from the Audit Office outlining its findings can be found on the council’s website www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk , as part of the minutes for the Cabinet meeting of January 13, 2014.
