TY HAFAN supporters from across Wales have helped raise an incredible £75,000 for the charity by taking part in the organisation’s Christmas raffle.

Andy Humphries, a grandfather of a child supported by T? Hafan, was thrilled to pick the charity’s raffle winners at the hospice.

His grandson, two-year-old Junior Bird, suffers from Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy, which means he needs 24 hour ventilation and specialist round-the-clock care at the hospice.

“It’s amazing to see how many people support T? Hafan and I was really pleased to help out with the draw,” said Andy.

“All the staff have been wonderful with Junior and we can’t thank T? Hafan enough for everything they’ve done for us.”

Grandmother Janet Griffiths, of Caerphilly, was delighted to receive a telephone call telling her she had won the raffle’s top prize of £3,000.

“I was really shocked to find out I’d won but I’m so pleased,” she said.

“I think I’ll be spending my winnings on a nice holiday. It’s fantastic that the raffle has raised so much for T? Hafan and I’ll be telling all my friends about it.”

T? Hafan’s Chairman, Mervyn Ham, who also attended the draw, said: “I’m delighted that the festive fun raffle raised £75,000 for T? Hafan. The success of the raffle is heavily reliant on our wonderful volunteers who help with the administration and smooth running of the draw. My thanks to them and, of course, the great Welsh public.”

In addition to running two raffles a year, T? Hafan also runs the largest hospice lottery in the UK. The income the lottery generates makes a significant contribution towards providing its services to hundreds of life-limited children, young people and their families from across Wales.
