ON WEDNESDAY, February 12, six members of the Year 12 School Council and Eco School Committee of Stanwell School attended the Change Makers Conference 2014.
The theme of the conference was 'Getting Smart about Mobile Phones'. The keynote speaker was a fantastic and very interesting gentleman named Bandi Mbubi from the London based charity Congo Calling.
Bandi, along with representatives from Oxfam Cymru, CEWC, Christian Aid, Centre for Alternative Technology and Fair Trade Wales gave student workshops throughout the day.
The six Stanwell Change Makers (Tom Chandler, Suzie Collins, Rhys Evans, Ailsa Maxwell, Issac Ridgley and Kathryn Tann) are now driven by the plight of miners in the Congo and aim to raise awareness throughout Stanwell and the wider community.
