PENARTH glass artist, Angelina Hall, will be joining 23 other survivors of breast cancer to model at 'The Show' which will be held at the Wales Millennium Centre on March 5.

This is a big event being run to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Care. Approximately 460 guests will be attending with a host of celebrities, including the Welsh Rugby Squad, who will be accompanying the models on the catwalk for the finale. It is hoped the event will raise at least £80,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

In 2011, at the age of 45, Angelina was diagnosed with a lobular breast cancer after having tests of a mammogram, ultrasound and an MRI. This was followed by a mastectomy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy.

Angelina said: "My tumour was stage one, grade two and the choices I made with my treatment were at all times in a view to having the best chance of survival and being able to see my children grow up into adulthood.

"Whilst undergoing the punishing treatment of both surgery and chemotherapy, Breast Cancer Care were an extremely positive lifeline at a very frightening time for me and my family. Upwards of 50,000 woman and 300 men are diagnosed every year and without their help and support it would have been so much harder to have coped with the situation."

Applying to be a model for Breast Cancer Care, Angelina felt that this was her way of drawing a line under her time with breast cancer.

She added: “This night is going to be a celebration of how far I have come. Although I am feeling rather nervous about being on stage, I know it will be a wonderful night to share with my friends and family. Hopefully, I can now move on and enjoy health and happiness with my husband and children."

All the models are trying to raise as much money as possible for the event and Angelina has designed and made a stained glass wall panel which will be included at the silent auction on the night.

She said: "Much of my work is centred on the iconic buildings of the Cardiff Bay Waterfront, and as The Show is being held at the WMC, it was a natural subject to choose. I have included the WMC, Senydd, Pier Head Building, St David's Hotel and the Norwegian Church in the design. As I am one of the few artists licensed by the WMC to reproduce its image, they gave their kind permission, to waiver the royalty on this piece of art. I very much hope that it will raise a good amount as it looks a stunning piece.”
