TWO Penarth-based care homes run by national charity MHA have performed strongly in the country’s largest and most authoritative survey of care home residents.
The results from the survey have shown that Morel Court and Ty Gwyn, both in Penarth, achieved respective overall performance ratings of 933 and 902 out of 1,000.
The nationwide survey, called Your Care Rating, questioned more than 20,000 residents in 1,055 care homes across the UK.
Its results provide a vital tool for families when they are choosing a care home, giving them direct feedback from residents on four broad themes – Staff and Care, Home Comforts, Choice and Having a Say and Quality of life. A home’s rating is based on its overall score across the four themes.
Keyly Scott, manager of Morel Court, and Kath Burgoyne, manager of Ty Gwyn said: “We are delighted that residents are pleased with the care and support they receive. We aim to provide person-centred care which respects everyone as a unique individual and seeks to promote physical, mental and spiritual well-being. We are now taking this opportunity to say thank you to our teams of staff and volunteers and to see how we can build on this success to further improve our service.”
