STANWELL School 6th Form pupil Alice Nottingham has been selected as a volunteer at this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
17-year-old hurdler Alice was one of 50,000 applicants who applied for places as volunteers.
By last September, the applications had been reduced by a half, and 25,000 applicants travelled to Glasgow to be interviewed.
Alice is one of the 5,000 finally selected where she will be helping at the athletics stadium - her dream come true.
The next stage is to attend three training days with the first one being March 7. Alice's hope is that she might have a task in the arena which she will find out at a later date.
Volunteers will receive a standard uniform but all other expenses have to be paid for by them. She will stay in a volunteers' camp in Glasgow.
This will be an exciting experience for Alice and Stanwell School would like to congratulate her and wish her well.
