A DISNEY medieval comedy drama starring Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones is currently being filmed at Cosmeston Medieval Village.

Film crews moved into the medieval village earlier this week and are due to finish filming tomorrow, March 14.

Crowds of Penarthians, many with long range cameras, have been gathering in Cosmeston Country Park in a bid to glimpse footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones in the medieval comedy.

The crews are currently filming a pilot for the comedy musical ‘Galavant’ that is expected to air on the American ABC network on October later this year.

Producer Helen Flint said that filming had been going well and that if the programme was commissioned for a full series they would be returning to Cosmeston in the future.

“We chose Cosmeston as it’s got the medieval village and is the ideal setting,” she said.

She added that there were eight actors on set and said that Vinnie Jones was “lovely” to work with.

She added that they had been filming for several weeks and had already been to Caerphilly and were due to film at Wales Cathedral.

A spokeswoman from the Vale of Glamorgan Council welcomed the filming.

“It is great that the Vale is growing in popularity as a venue for productions such as this.”

BBC production ‘Merlin’ has previously been filmed at Cosmeston Medieval Village, and it is rumoured that Doctor Who could also be filming there in the next few weeks.
