A PENARTH schoolboy’s dream of becoming an architect has moved a step closer after he was given a new laptop thanks to support from two architect firms.

Thirteen-year-old Ysgol Erw’r Delyn pupil Lewis Gasson, who enjoys taking part in school art classes based on the theme of buildings, was presented with a laptop at a ceremony to help him design buildings in the hope of one day becoming an architect.

Through children’s charity Follow Your Dreams, which aims to provide children and young people with learning disabilities with an opportunity to follow their dreams, HLM Architects and Penarth-based Loyn & Co Architects were able to fund a laptop for Lewis and help him on his way to becoming an architect.

Associate director of HLM, Jonathan Jones, said: “We are delighted to be able to help fund a laptop for Lewis and recommend specialist software for him to use. We’re looking forward to seeing some of his designs!”

He added: “Lewis also came to our offices in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago where we were able to show him how buildings are designed, particularly his new school which will be part of the Penarth Learning Community development. We are also planning to give Lewis a special tour of the new buildings in September before the school moves in.”

Vicky George from Follow You Dreams added: “We were thrilled to have the support of two local architects to help make Lewis’s dream come true and together they have funded a fantastic laptop for him.

“We were particularly pleased that they were able to join us for the presentation so that they could see how their support makes a real difference.”
