PENARTH'S Marie Curie Hospice is "thrilled" to announce a record breaking year of fundraising after raising more than £60,000 in the Great Daffodil Appeal.

The Great Daffodil Appeal runs throughout February and March and is Marie Curie’s biggest fundraiser.

The charity encourages people to wear a Daffodil pin throughout these months in support of the Marie Curie Nurses who provide free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the local hospice.

Helen Mulhern, community fundraiser of the Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and the Vale, said: "This year we held over 140 collections in local shopping centres, supermarkets, town centres and sporting venues, which raised an amazing £60,285.78.

"We would like to thank all our wonderful fundraising group’s, individual volunteers, everyone that gave up an hour or two to collect for us and also for the generous members of the public who donated to wear their Daffodil pin. "

The fundraising office recently held a Thank You tea party inviting their volunteers along to enjoy in some tea and cake. If anyone is interested in volunteering for Marie Curie then please call 02920 426068. The charity has many varied volunteer roles available.
