PENARTH lifeboat crew recently had a busy weekend of call-outs to a person in the water and then to a broken down fishing boat.

On Saturday night, April 12, Penarth RNLI were called out a person in the water in Cardiff Bay.

After conducting a thorough search of the bay the lifeboat returned back to station at 1am.

No casualties were found and the call-out was considered to be a false alarm with good intent.

The volunteer RNLI crew were also assisted by Penarth Coastguard during the call-out.

On Sunday, April 13, Penarth's Atlantic 85 Lifeboat was launched to search for a fishing vessel with a failed engine that was drifting near Newport. The vessel was located, taken under tow and recovered to a mooring in the Usk River. All casualties were reported safe and well..
