THE Art Department at Stanwell School were delighted to welcome Nick Lord, winner of the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2013, to the school last month.
He kindly agreed to visit Stanwell to run a creative art workshop for Year 12 and 13 art students. He conducted a fascinating pigment mixing session and showed his varied portraiture techniques.
The students were able to discuss their own work with Nick and ask for personal advice on the content of their exam research.
All the pupils were keen to hear about his experiences with the personalities he has been commissioned to paint such as Hilary Mantel, Sophie Dahl, Gavin Henson and Chris Hoy.
This was a great opportunity for the 6th form pupils who had a wonderful time and a very positive learning experience.
