A FORMER Penarth schoolgirl is set to take to the stage as one of the lead roles in a production of Grease.

Nicola Caldwell has been chosen to star as Sandy in the hit musical at the New Theatre stage in Oxford later this month.

From a young age Nicola performed with the Orbit Theatre Company at the New Theatre in Cardiff and, before departing to live in Oxford, her last role was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

Former Stanwell School pupil Nicola graduated as a primary school teacher and taught for her first two years at Victoria Primary School.

During her time there she set up an inspiring after school ‘Glee Club', as well as directing and producing two successful shows with young performers from Years 5 and 6.

Now in Oxford, Nicola has rekindled her own passion for performing with her latest role in Grease.

A dream role for many female performers, Nicola said she was “excited” by the role and that she was extremely humbled by the support received from family and friends.

Grease will be performed from Tuesday, May 27, until Saturday, May 31, at the New Theatre in Oxford
