THE May 1, meeting of the Dinas Powis Rotary Club featured guest speaker Lara Cowpe who spoke about the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Lara, from Dinas Powys, was diagnosed with cancer as a child and had to go through two years of chemotherapy so knows first hand how important the work of the TCT unit in Cardiff is and has raised more than £70,000 for the Unit (TCT) at University Hospital of Wales. Her efforts have already seen her take part in the Olympic Torch relay in 2012. Lara was joined by friend Owen Young who is also keen to support the Teenage Cancer Trust a UK-based charity which helps young people aged 13-24 fight cancer. Six teenagers are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and cancer is the most common cause of non-accidental death in this age group.

During the evening Dinas Powis Rotary Club were also delighted to install a new member to the club, Jerry Heath who was proposed by Rotarian Simon Watts and who joins the club at a exciting time with two new associated members joining within the next few weeks.
