A PENARTH hair salon has proven itself a cut above the rest by raising more than £1,000 for charity.

Hello Gorgeous hair salon, on Glebe Street, recently held a sell-out ladies night in aid of The Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough.

Sharon Brito, owner of Hello Gorgeous hair salon, said that the event was so successful they were planning on holding more fundraisers in the future.

“It’s the first time we have ever done it and everyone has been asking if we will do it again,” she said.

“It was a good fun night and everyone enjoyed it.”

The ladies pampering evening also featured a raffle with prizes donated from a range of local businesses, as well as a stall featuring the clairvoyant Sharon Fry.

Helen McGarridge, a clinical nurse specialist at The Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough, praised the hair salon for their fundraising and welcomed the donation.

“I didn’t expect anything like the amount that has been raised,” she said.

“It’s really nice when local people raise money as it stays in the area.”

Businesses that donated prizes to the raffle included: Glendale Hotel, Thompson Butchers, Beauty Lounge, Windsor Gifts, Rowleys Jewellery, Ye Olde Sweet Shop, Andreas Flowers, Bears Head pub, Celtic Lounge, Costa Coffee, Robert James household stores, Fourways Newsagents, Polka Dot Door and Jewels Interior Designs.

Stalls at the event included Gingers, Amorie, local crafts by Lynne Smith and Gemma Oneal, and Cardiff clairvoyant Sharon Fry.

Sharon Brito and staff from Hello Gorgeous donated a cheque of £1,060.50 to Helen McGarridge earlier this month.
