FLASH flooding has hit several streets in Penarth and caused buses to be diverted.

Fire Service crew are currently dealing with flooding on Augusta Road, Cowslip Drive, Redlands Road, Windsor Road, Lavernock Road, Pill Street and Murch Road in Dinas Powys.

Basements have also flooded at properties on Windsor Road and Cliff Parade.

Penarth Esplanade, opposite the Penarth Pier Pavilion, has also been flooded by the heavy rain.

Heavy rain has also caused bus diversions on Lavernock Road.

A Cardiff Bus spokesman tweeted earlier this afternoon that due to flooding opposite Penarth Rugby Club the 94 bus would operate via Dinas Road, Beechwood Drive and Castle Avenue in both directions.

Due to flooding on Penarth Road the 92 and 93 buses will also be diverting via Llandough Village and Barry Road, before returning to their normal route on outbound journeys.

Heavy rain has also caused flooding at the roundabout between Cornerswell Road, Stanwell Road and Woodland Place.

The Met Office has extended its yellow warning to cover the whole of the country until later tonight.
