A DINAS Powys man is hoping to become the first Welshman to complete a gruelling four day Alpine quattrathlon challenge.

The Goretex Alpine Quattrathlon challenge will see 30 athletes from all over Europe running and cycling 240km through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Thirty three-year-old Jamie Harris needs your vote to ensure that he is among the athletes embarking on the challenge of a lifetime.

Jamie said: "At 33 I am probably past my prime for main stream sport but I am always looking for the next adventure.

"I will have to show guts, determination and stamina over four consecutive days while mountain biking, trail running, road biking and road running crossing four different countries on foot and by bike, on roads and along trails.

"In my daily life I work with adults who have learning difficulties - a job that brings huge amount of satisfaction and a group of great people who make me immensely proud.

"They are always ready and willing to hear about my tales of mountaineering in Morocco, cycling in Spain, snow-shoeing in the Swiss Alps or triathlon-ing home in Wales.

"The Gortex Alpine Quattrathlon is a huge adventure and something I would love to be part of.

"It would be a challenge I could do in honour of my guys and hopefully something they could be proud of me for."

In order to take part ahead of other applicants Jamie doesn't require sponsorship or financial aid he simply needs votes to be registered at his profile page.
