THE pupils of St Joseph’s Primary School arrived at school on Monday morning to find that the building had been transformed into a rainforest, complete with trees, vines and even a few monkeys. Over the weekend, the staff had worked tirelessly to ensure that the corridors were altered as part of their new Leonardo effect learning theme.
One child said: "What happened, it looks like magic.”
Whilst others expressed delight at the many birds and butterflies that were suspended from the ceiling.
For two days, the children were challenged to carry out a variety of activities designed to test their problem solving skills and provide inspiration for the next seven weeks of learning.
These tasks included rainforest shelter building, mask making, observational drawing and cooking on an open fire.
Over the next few weeks the pupils will be investigating various aspects of the rainforest theme and will be using it to engage and inspire their learning.
