PENARTH'S RAFA branch celebrated its 65th birthday with a dedication ceremony.

The building was dedicated by Lord Tedder on June 3,1949 ,where he unveiled a plaque in honour of the occasion and also pulled the first pint in a tankard presented to him by the branch chairman, Nigel Gibbs.

To honour the anniversary, Air Commodore Andrew Neal AFC visited the headquarters on Saturday, May 31, and unveiled a new plaque to dedicate the special date.

Guests at the unveiling were Cllr Anthony Ernest, representing Penarth Town Council, Flt Lt Kevin Scott, MOD St Athan and Flying Officer Emily Kennedy and Commanding Officer 1148 Sqn ATC.

A surprise guest was Jennifer Davies who, as seven year old Jennifer Strange, had presented Lady Tedder with a bouquet of flowers on the day.

The event was also attended by many members of the branch where a buffet was provided following the ceremony.
