STUART Tarr is a first-round winner in the annual NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, which recognises the personal achievement of site managers in creating new UK homes of outstanding quality.

Stuart of Crest Nicholson South West won the award for working on their Penarth Heights site in Cardiff Royal Close, Penarth, joining nearly 450 Quality Award winners from across the UK. They were selected from around 15,000 entrants from across the country.

Pride in the Job is the only nationwide competition dedicated to recognising the best site managers – the people on the ground who oversee building projects from start to finish.

Site managers have a greater influence over the outcome of a project than anyone else involved, overseeing everything that happens on site - from the wellbeing of their team and the smooth finish of their plastering to the tidiness of their site and the pleasure of new owners.

Peter Watton, Regional Director for NHBC, the UK’s leading standards setter and warranty provider for new UK homes, said: "For nearly 35 years, Pride in the Job has been a fundamental component of NHBC’s work to raise standards through the celebration and sharing of best practice.

"Site managers that win an NHBC Pride in the Job Award are creating houses of an exceptionally good standard. The homes Stuart has built in Penarth are without doubt among the best in the UK."

The winners have excelled in a comprehensive year-long judging process, assessed against stringent criteria defined by NHBC’s technical Standards for building new homes. They are now shortlisted for regional titles which will be revealed in the autumn.

The regional champions will then go forward to contest the national Supreme Winner title in their category at the Pride in the Job Gala Final in London in January.
