SEA Sunday is now firmly established in Penarth as an annual event and one in which the community is asked to remember all those whose work takes them to sea in one way or another.

This year the service will be held on Sunday, July 6, at 3pm.

At 2.50pm the Mayor and Clergy, together with the uniformed organisations, will leave the RNLI station and parade to the Italian Gardens where the service will take place.

The service will be conducted by Canon Roger Williams, Rector of the Parish of Penarth and Llandough, and the address will be given by The Revd Peter Cox, Vicar of All Saints and Area Dean of Penarth.

Once again hymns will be led by the Salvation Army Band.

Speaking of Sea Sunday, Canon Roger Williams, said: “We are very dependent on those who work at sea in so many ways.

"The Royal Navy protects us, the Merchant Navy brings us food, clothes, petrol and countless goods. Others go to sea to bring us fish and many ferry us across the seas on our holidays. Across the world there are thousands of seafarers who regularly face challenging conditions, and it is important to remember them and what they do for us, and to pray for them, for their families and those who support them."
