THE LEADER of the Green Party has praised the £4.2million redevelopment of the Penarth Pier Pavilion after a tour of the iconic building.

Natalie Bennett, who visited the pavilion last Thursday with the deputy leader of the Wales Green Party Anthony Slaughter, was treated to a tour and an insight into the history of the building by Pier Pavilion director Dr David Trotman.

The group also discussed the many charitable and community projects that the Pavilion are working with.

Natalie Bennett, who was elected to her position in September 2012, said: "I was very impressed by the inclusive approach being taken by Penarth Pier Pavilion, in providing opportunities and facilities for a wide range of different groups in its community.

"This glorious space at the boundary of land and sea is something that should be available to all, and it is entirely right that it is being run by the community for the community."

The day also included a visit to the Riverside Community Market Garden at Coed Hills, St Hilary and an evening social hosted by Cardiff Green Party.
