A FORMER leader of the Vale Council has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, announced recently.

Haydn Jeffrey Winston James, commonly known as Jeff James was awarded the honour for political and voluntary service to the community in Wales particularly in the Vale of Glamorgan – Rhoose.

The Tory Rhoose councillor has was involved with the family dairy business and subsequently became an owner-manager.

The former planning committee chairman was elected to the former Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council in 1979 as member for the Rhoose ward.

He has also served on Penmark Parish Council and Rhoose Community Council.

Cllr Jeff James is also involved with the Rhoose & District History Society.
