SELFIES the original way - with a pencil - are on offer from artist Richard O'Connell during Barry Holiday Festival.

Richard will be helping budding artists to draw their own portraits at two free workshops.

He will guide those who want to have a go but is also offering to draw free portraits of those who prefer to sit for the professional.

Richard, a member of Vale of Glamorgan Artists, who lives in Coronation Terrace, Penarth, said: "I like drawing portraits. Drawing is about having a go - you've got to start somewhere. Help is at hand for those who need it. Bottom line - you must have fun when you are drawing and it is never boring."

The workshops will be held at Barry Travellers' Gallery on Barry Railway Station in the cafe which is open to the general public with access from the street. An exhibition of work, including paintings, textiles and ceramics by VOGA artists is also on show in the cafe gallery.

Workshops will run from1pm to 3pm on Tuesday, July 29, and Wednesday, July 30. Just turn up - materials will be provided. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Barry Holiday Festival runs from July 26 to August 2 and VOGA's art exhibition continues until August 8.
