THE LONG-STANDING owners of Windsor Bookshop are set to close the doors for the last time at the end of the month.

Anne and Tony Hallett, who have owned the bookshop for more than 15 years, will be retiring at the end of August.

The bookshop has been bought as a going concern by local mother of three, Mel Griffin, and will be re-opening as Griffin Books on Monday, September 1.

“Anne and Tony have provided a wonderful service for the past 15 years and will be very much missed," said Mel.

“But the people of Penarth can rest assured that we will continue to have a local independent bookshop, providing a wide range of books, maps and cards; next day ordering of titles not in stock; and unbeatable customer service.”

Anne and Tony, who live near Pontypridd, will not be gone for good as they will continue to be closely involved in future Penarth Book Festivals.

The bookshop has held a number of high profile book signings over the last few months, including the likes of Welsh rugby star Sam Warburton, weatherman Derek Brockway and cycling sensation Nicole Cooke.

Local authors, including the likes of Laura Kemp and Peter Griffiths, have also launched their books at the Windsor Road outlet.

The bookshop has also played an integral part in the Penarth Book Festival.

Friends and customers of Anne and Tony Hallett are invited to wish them well at an ‘open house’ celebration in the bookshop, all day on Saturday, August 30.
